What is the difference?

Standard shipping travels through shared commercial cargo networks and hands off to a local delivery partner in your country. It's the most efficient way to move packages, but it operates on regular business hours — most local carriers rest on weekends, so packages pause on the way to you.

Premium delivery uses a priority service with tracking updates through DHL Express. Packages move through a faster route, which is why it typically arrives sooner.

In most cases, your package arrives within the estimated timeframe. The actual delivery date may vary due to factors outside our control — weather events, flight schedules, customs inspection, or issues with the delivery address.

What might delay your delivery?

Most shipments arrive on time. When they don't, it's usually one of these — grouped so you can find yours quickly.

Address & contact details

  • Incorrect, incomplete, or vague delivery address
  • Missing apartment, unit, floor, or building number
  • Wrong or unreachable phone number - couriers often call to coordinate delivery
  • Address flagged by the courier as unsafe for drop-off

When you're not available

  • Nobody home at the delivery time and a signature is required
  • Multiple failed delivery attempts
  • Not collected from the pickup point or locker within the holding window (usually 5-7 days)
  • No response to courier calls or SMS notifications

Customs

  • Random customs inspection (routine, typically adds 1-5 days)
  • Customs asks you for additional paperwork
  • Unpaid import duties or VAT (only in countries where the recipient is responsible)
  • Customs queries the declared value of the parcel

Outside anyone's control

  • Severe weather - storms, snow, floods, wildfires
  • Flight cancellations or air-freight backlogs
  • Peak-season volume (Christmas, Chinese New Year, Black Friday)
  • Public holidays in the origin or destination country
  • Carrier strikes or major route disruptions

Special situations

  • Remote or hard-to-reach delivery locations
  • Restricted delivery areas (military bases, gated communities, some rural zones)
  • Package damaged during transit and returned to sender
